Content creator and writer Ruchi Page caught our attention with her inclusive beauty and body positive messaging. Her ability to serve both killer looks and light up a room with her infectious smile was just an added bonus.
After representing our cult Australian Pink Clay range in our recent Skintervention campaign shoot, we chatted to Ruchi to ask her advice for remaining confident in your skin, her very clever beauty hack and must have skincare.
When searching for skincare, what's the number one ingredient you look for to target your skin concern?
The number one ingredient I look for is Vitamin C or Vitamin C derivatives. My skin is prone to forming dark spots after a breakout and I have found the best way to protect and ease the melanin production is by incorporating Vitamin C into my regime. This is something I do daily to fight free radical damage from the sun as well as provide an even toned, brightened complexion. Sand & Sky’s Australian Emu Apple range is packed full of Kakadu Plum - the world’s richest source of vitamin C – so I do find myself reaching for these products quite often.
What skincare advice would you give to your younger self?
My number one piece of advice for little Ruchi would be to stop believing my skin colour doesn’t need sunscreen. I wish I understood the significance of sun protection for deeper complexions so I could protect myself. This is especially important when using active skincare ingredients.
What is your favourite skincare hack?
My favourite skincare hack is to use a hyaluronic acid serum like the Tasmanian Spring Water Splash Serum prior to masking. I especially love to do this when I am using a plumping mask like the Australian Emu Apple Super Bounce Mask or an intense moisture mask that is water based. The hyaluronic acid pulls and attracts moisture from the mask therefore my skin is EXTRA plump and juicy after removal.
Favourite Sand & Sky product and why?
My favourite Sand and Sky product has to be the Australian Pink Clay Smoothing Body Sand. First of all, the packaging is adorable. But more importantly, my bod is insanely smooth after working it over the skin. It makes buffing dead skin so much fun and with the stunning, golden sheen it leaves, you are practically a golden goddess.
Where is the most unusual place you’ve applied a face mask?
The most unusual place I’ve applied a face mask is actually on my hands. Whenever my hands are in need of a bit of ‘bounce,’ I treat them to some tender love and care. Again, the Super Bounce Mask is great for this as it’s full of vitamin C and other antioxidants to help combat damage.
What advice do you give to people who are struggling to feel confident in their own skin?
My advice to feel confident in your own skin would be learning the art of being as kind to yourself as you are to your best friend. As humans, we are born to be imperfect. Strive for skin health rather than perfection and know that healthy skin appears differently across every single person, because we all function differently with varied lifestyles. Being generous to ourselves first and taking care of our skin is a simple repayment for everything it goes through.
